One might think that installing a wireless backup camera into your automobile is best used to help with parallel parking and avoid scraping the curb or bumping into the vehicle behind you but that is not always the case. The number one most important reason for installing a wireless backup camera system is to avoid hitting another human being, most notably small children as they do not always have the maturity and proper common sense to not get in the way of a moving vehicle. For all the pet lovers out there, another good reason would be to avoid running over the beloved family pet or any other animal for that matter.

Fortunately, the majority of higher end luxury vehicles on the market today already have this incredibly efficient feature built right in. For the rest of us who may not have a wireless backup camera system in our car, there are plenty of affordable aftermarket choices for us to choose from. The wireless backup camera and monitor packages come in a variety of different shapes, sizes and colors. The monitors are usually available in a color screen and come in sizes such as 2.4, 3.5 and even 7 inch displays. The reverse cameras also come with regular lenses but sometimes it is better to buy one with a wide angle lense as it will help you see over a wider area of coverage. Depending on the brand and quality you are looking at a price range of anywhere from $70 to $150 plus.

Wireless backup camera systems are actually quite easy to set-up and do not take up too much time to install at all. It is easier to set up because you do not have to run long wires or cables along the interior of your vehicle to connect both the reverse camera and the monitor. However, you do still have to hardwire the camera by running a wire from the camera mount on your license plate to your vehicle’s reverse light circuit. This is necessary because it allows the rear view camera to automatically turn on every time it detects that you are in reverse which causes the reverse lights to come on.

Basic Instructions On Installing a Wireless Backup Camera System:

1) Mount the reverse camera bracket onto your vehicle’s license plate frame. You can choose to mount it with the top or bottom 2 screws depending on your preference.
